Lindstedt Castle, located near Potsdam, Germany, is a late-classical château built between 1858 and 1861 under the reign of King Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia. Originally part of the Lindstedt estate, which was acquired by Friedrich Wilhelm III in 1828, the site was initially used for carp farming. The castle is situated approximately 800 meters northwest of the Neues Palais, along the Lindstedter Chaussee. Friedrich Wilhelm IV envisioned the castle as a retirement residence, contributing over 100 drawings to its design. The project involved prominent architects such as Ludwig Persius, Ludwig Ferdinand Hesse, Friedrich August Stüler, and Ferdinand von Arnim. Despite the ambitious plans, only a minimal version was realized. The castle features a main building, a tower with a belvedere, and a temple-like annex with a high staircase, connected by a colonnade to the surrounding landscape. The gardens, designed by Peter Joseph Lenné, offer views of the castle and the surrounding area. After the king's death, the castle was completed by his successor, Wilhelm I. Over the years, it served various purposes, including as a quarantine station and educational facility. Since 1996, it has been managed by the Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Palaces and Parks of Potsdam and Berlin.
