Burgwall Alt Brieselang is a deserted castle site located in the district of Brandenburg, Germany, specifically in the locality of Alt Brieselang, a part of the municipality of Brieselang in the Havelland district. This site is recognized as a cultural heritage monument in Germany. The castle, also known as Bussenwall, dates back to the period between the 8th and 12th centuries and is classified as a Slavic Niederungsburg, a type of lowland castle. It was constructed on a natural elevation near the Muhre river, which has since been altered significantly due to the construction of the nearby Havel Canal, making the original defensive position of the site difficult to discern today. The Burgwall served as a fortification during the Slavic period and continued to be used until the Christian Middle Ages. Today, it is considered a Bodendenkmal, or archaeological monument, and is situated northwest of the town, surrounded by forest. The site is an important historical and cultural landmark, reflecting the region's Slavic heritage and medieval history. Despite its current state as a ruin, Burgwall Alt Brieselang remains a significant point of interest for those studying medieval fortifications and Slavic history in Germany.
