Schloss Marquardt is a historical manor located approximately 15 km northwest of Potsdam, in the district of Marquardt, Brandenburg, Germany. The estate, first mentioned in 1313 as "Skoryn," has a rich history of ownership by various noble families. In 1660, Moritz Andreas von Wartenberg consolidated two farms into a manorial estate, with one building serving as the main residence and the other as an administrative office. The von Wartenberg family held the property until 1704, when Marquard Ludwig von Printzen acquired it. Although von Printzen rarely resided there due to his state duties, the estate was renamed in his honor. Over the years, Schloss Marquardt has served multiple purposes, including as a hotel, hospital, and university institute. Today, it is used for events such as weddings and experiential dining, and it is a popular filming location for movies and television, including productions like "Spencer" and "The Book Thief." The manor is designated as an architectural heritage monument in Brandenburg, reflecting its historical and cultural significance. Despite its varied uses over the centuries, Schloss Marquardt remains a notable landmark in the region, attracting visitors and filmmakers alike.
