The Bismarckturm in Rathenow is a neogothic-style monument located on Weinberg hill, also known as Kiekeberg or Trompeterberg, at an elevation of 57 meters above sea level. It was constructed to commemorate Otto von Bismarck, who began his political career in Rathenow in 1848. Planning for the monument started in 1898 after Bismarck's death, initially as a simple memorial stone. However, with a donation from Carl Paul Goerz, the project expanded to include an observation tower. The foundation stone was laid on April 1, 1913, and the tower was inaugurated on June 24, 1914. The 32-meter tall structure is made from Rathenow brick and incorporates architectural elements inspired by Tangermünde's styles. It includes an observation deck offering panoramic views and houses a Bismarck statue by Berlin sculptor Lilli Wislicenus-Finzelberg. The site was chosen for its historical significance and scenic beauty, having been a recreational spot since 1890. The Bismarckturm is recognized as an architectural heritage site, underscoring its cultural and historical importance in Germany.
