The Aussichtsturm Merzdorf, also known as the "Ost-See" Observation Tower, is located in Merzdorf, a district of Cottbus in Brandenburg, Germany. Constructed by Vattenfall Europe Mining and Generation, the tower was completed between 2003 and 2004 and officially opened in December 2006. Standing at 34 meters, it is inclined by 5° towards the future Cottbus Lake, part of the Cottbuser Ostsee project. The tower provides a unique vantage point to observe the transformation of the mining area into a recreational lake, which is expected to be completed by 2024.
