Standing at 144.1 meters, it is the highest elevation in the Krausnicker Berge. The hill is part of the Spreewald Biosphere Reserve and lies approximately 2 kilometers south of Köthen, 3.5 kilometers north-northwest of Krausnick, and 3.3 kilometers west of Groß Wasserburg. A notable feature of Wehlaberg is its observation tower, which has been a popular viewpoint for many years. The current tower, constructed in 2003, is 28 meters tall and offers expansive views over the surrounding landscape, including the Heideseen to the north and, on clear days, the distant Berlin TV Tower. The tower's lower section is built in a solid construction, while the upper part is made of partially clad wood. Visitors can ascend via a concrete staircase to a covered platform, and further up, a wooden staircase leads to the top viewing platform. The European long-distance hiking trail E10 and the Gurken-Radweg cycling path pass near the hill. Additionally, about 600 meters east of the summit, there is a telecommunications mast and a fire watchtower.
